In Vivo Dance - Thomas Hauert

> Composition workshops : In Vivo Danse <

Registration deadline
20 December 2011

This workshop, led by Thomas Hauert and the composer Thierry De Mey, provides the opportunity for five composers to work closely with the dancers from the Zoo Company.

How is it possible to associate, in the same creative process, a choreographic activity with an element of improvisation, and the realization of an electronic work? How does one invent reactive work methods and coherent aesthetic lines between the stage and the studio? This workshop lets participants update, formalize, and test the relationships between writing movement and electronics in vivo: practical analysis, creation of a common vocabulary, definition of shared temporal strategies, all put into practice on the stage. Video support is an integral element of this interaction between dance and music.

Before the workshop, the selected composers can begin their composition work based on captures of danced sequences by the Zoo Company realized by Thierry De Mey.

Four young directors (Emilie Rousset, Matthieu Roy, Cyril Teste, Guillaume Vincent, Ludovic Lagarde) have decided to address the question of technology in vivo. Surrounded by a few actors, authors (Olivier Cadiot, Anne Kawala, Mariette Navaro), and technicians, with the support of IRCAM, these directors have created a research group on Ludovic Lagarde, director of the Comédie de Reims and familiar with the IRCAM laboratories, that will last for one artistic season. This group will explore and learn technologies for transforming voices, for sound diffusion, and for gesture-sound interaction and test them on body and stage. After three experimentation sessions in Paris and Reims during the year, acanthes@ircam will present this studio work, preludes to later stage productions, at the CENTQUATRE and at the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord.
