The test of the quartet is one of the most revealing for a young composer. The Arditti quartet, a group hardened to contemporary writing, will work with five composers, offering the possibility to two of them to use electronics on one of the quartet’s instruments.

Technical Conditions
For works using computer music, the configuration of the sound diffusion will be made up of 10 loudspeakers, two of which are mobile on stage, and 8 fixed around the audience.
Each instrument will be captured independently by a microphone. The selected composers must send a “Max/MSP patch” (Max/MSP version 5 or 6) that can be executed on a Macintosh 2.3 GHz with Mac OSX before April 15, 2012. This patch must be accompanied by all necessary technical information: processing used, sound diffusion configuration, etc.
An IRCAM computer-music designer will assess the patch and will contact the composer to finalize the patch’s operation.
