Sébastien Vichard, Pierre Laurent Aimard and Christiane Oelze (soprano)
From 18 to 29 June 2012

The pianists selected for this master class will take part in Sébastien Vichard’s workshop from June 18 through the 25. Beginning on June 26, certain students will be chosen to take part in either Pierre-Laurent Aimard’s master class or the master class on the lied taught by Christiane Oelze.

The pianists who are not chosen can follow either master class as an auditor.

Week 1: Sébastien Vichard
From 18 to 25 June 2012

Soloist from the Ensemble intercontemporain, Sébastien Vichard will focus on the work Pluton by Philippe Manoury (piano and electronics) and on works for piano by Pierre Boulez in the presence of the composers.

Repertoire
The applicants are invited to choose at least one movement of a work by Boulez from the program below and two of the five books of Pluton by Philippe Manoury. Applicants can suggest a complement to the program that will be confirmed via a common accord with Sébastien Vichard. Applicants should also have a good mastery of the works selected before the master class.

As an extension of the workshop on Helmut Lachenmann’s oeuvre held in Aldeburgh from June 11 to 17, 2012, Pierre-Laurent Aimard will work in Paris with five pianists on Traiettoria for piano and electronics by Marco Stroppa in presence of the composer.

Master class lieder, Christiane Oelze
June 26—29, 2012

Directed by Christiane Oelze (soprano), international soloist whose lyric repertoire spans from Mozart to contemporary creation, this class will enable five pianists to work with singers on lieders from the second school of Vienna (Schönberg, Berg, Webern).
